This week, I wanted to move on from synthesis for a bit and try to work out how to incorporate some of my foley recordings in. Taking inspiration from Blackhaine and Richie Culver’s ‘Did U Cum Yet?’ A/V piece, I manipulated one of my foley recordings in Simpler to loop, after pitching it up. I added a stereo echo to give it some depth, and then a reverb, with the feedback automated steadily to eventually create an almost electric humming sound.

I also had a bass guitar recording that I wanted to include. I cleaned up the sample using EQ, and then reversed and time stretched it. Then, I side chained it to my original bass sound. I think this created a really interesting, almost ‘anti-pumping effect’ – the pumping effect seemingly being the most common use for sidechaining.
